Cost Accountant
Cost Accountant-
I. General Summary: Responsible for bill of material accuracy, variance analysis, inventory reporting and fixed asset control. Prepare monthly financial analysis, forecasting, and short-term and mid-term profit planning.
II. Essential Job Functions:
A. Review bills of materials and routings for accuracy.
B. Perform BOM audits with PC and Manufacturing.
C. Calculate annual standard labor and overhead rates for each manufacturing process.
D. Understand impact and review for accuracy all master file additions and changes to part numbers and set up material cost and standards.
E. Manage the costing / financial side of ECI activities and track recovery with TBA.
F. Compile cost and volume data for preparation of annual budgets including next year’s standard cost increases.
G. Analyze and prepare monthly reports for manufacturing variances and purchase price variances.
H. Assist Cost Planning and Engineering with the setup of estimates for new products and product changes.
I. Review raw material standard cost for accuracy. Track all standard cost and selling price changes.
J. Assist with physical inventory counts.
K. Review/assist with cycle counts. Monitor inventory levels for negative on hand quantities and errors. Review slow moving and no activity for potential write-offs.
L. Assist in the calculation of cost savings for budget and measurement of actual savings.
M. Reconcile perpetual vs. GL inventory balances on a monthly basis. Work with PC to prepare monthly inventory turns report.
N. Prepare monthly volume / mix analysis reports.
O. Control fixed asset tagging and yearly fixed asset physical inventory.
P. Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for all inventory-related accounts.
Q. Prepare journal entries for any month end adjustments
R. Prepare monthly settlement file and follow up on any variances with PC or intercompany A&F
S. Enter inventory adjustments.
T. Participate in scrap reduction / scrap auction team.
U. Assist pilot team in all new parts set up prior to receipt into inventory
III. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience:
• Entry to four (4) years of work experience in a Cost Accounting role in a manufacturing environment.
Personal/Technical Skills:
• Must have knowledge of basic cost accounting, business finance, standard cost and inventory valuation.
• Requires an understanding of the interrelationships of cost accounting and data processing.
• Strong multitasking and organization skills.
• General understanding and working knowledge of basic accounting principles.
• Strong customer service orientation with both internal and external customers.
• Thorough knowledge of company accounting/financial reporting procedures, policies and requirements.
• Excellent math skills.
• Ability to maintain specified financial files, records and logs.
• Ability to research and compile data to prepare reports, recaps and summaries.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
• Must be familiar with company products, manufacturing procedures and terminology.
• Must be very detail oriented.
• Judgment and initiative are required to complete tasks efficiently, maintain accuracy and meet time schedules.
Language Skills:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Computer/Software:
• ERP System experience.
• Requires proficiency in MS Excel and MS Access (database management).
• Solid working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.).
