Safety/ Enviro Asst. Manager
Environmental Health and Safety Assistant Manager - Days
General Summary: Responsible for managing overall control of safety & health for all aspects including but not limited to; OSHA, Environmental, state related compliance, and workers’ compensation.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Technical
1 Ensure compliance with current OSHA, and other Federal, State, and Local agencies as they pertain to Safety and Environmental issues.
2 Develop, implement and manage safety programs and procedures that will reduce frequency and severity of personal injuries. Ensures plant is in compliance with all applicable laws.
3 Development of New Hire Orientation materials pertaining to environmental and safety.
4 Conduct training and coaching for management and team members on safety and environmental issues pertaining to their specific position and job duties in support of appropriate laws, TBA safety standards and procedures.
5 Perform security and disaster protection activities. Creates appropriate safety standards. Conducts tests and audits of system. Promptly informs senior management of any problem areas. Make corrections as necessary.
6 Perform periodic environmental/safety and compliance audits for facility.
7 Facilitate incident investigation process.
8 Identify and promptly inform management of compliance issues, safety risk and improvement opportunities through the conduct of daily, weekly and monthly audits.
9 Maintain accurate daily, weekly and monthly metrics reporting to onsite management teams and corporate based reporting systems.
10 Maintain required paperwork to comply with TBA standards.
11 Create and maintains the Safety Dojo.
12 Conduct risk assessments related to jobs performed (Job Hazard Analysis) and new equipment introductions. Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures to management, including ergonomic considerations, in all such efforts.
13 Focus on continually improving Technical skills as outlined during performance review.
B. Interpersonal

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or
related field required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
• Minimum of six (6) years of relevant production experience required (automotive preferred).
• Minimum of two (2) years of leadership or supervisory experience required.
• Must have a basic knowledge of regulatory requirements including Federal and State Safety and Health Laws. These requirements would include: OSHA, EPA, DOT, EPA Risk Management Plans, and Industrial Hygiene.
• Experienced in emergency response and able to maintain current First Aid and CPR certificates.

Language Skills:
• English, both written and oral, is required. Japanese, Spanish, and Portuguese would be helpful
Computer/Software:
• Solid working knowledge and demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Lotus Notes/Outlook, Internet, etc.).
Work Environment/Conditions:
Office: Open Office Environment
Plant: Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply.
Travel: Must be willing to travel up to 25% of time.
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit and work on a computer for extensive periods of time as required. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear. The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time. May be required to lift up to 30 pounds.
