EHS Specialist (Carbon Reduction)

Toyota Boshoku America, Inc Princeton, IN (Onsite) Full-Time

I.    General Summary: 
Administration of TBA Corporate Energy (CO2) reduction activities and KPI tracking/analysis.
II.    Essential Job Functions:
A.    Interprets and implements energy (CO2) reduction targets, goals, and plans. 
B.    Organizes and conducts energy program assessments and audits that evaluate the effectiveness of energy reduction projects and activities.
C.    Develop/quantify energy savings capital project plans for achieving energy and CO2 reduction goals and targets.
D.    Investigates high-energy usage equipment (e.g. HVAC units, motors, and injection molding machines, welding processes, etc.) to reduce energy consumption. Develop,                         coordinate, and implement strategy to reduce energy consumption.
E.    Provide design calculations for utility upgrades including chillers, cooling towers, HVAC systems, pneumatic systems, etc.
F.    Consults and coordinates with other professionals including plant management, environmental coordinators, utility companies, maintenance, engineers, and contractors in the            resolution of complex energy reduction issues.
G.   Develops energy reduction policies & procedures including establishing criteria to control and reduce CO2 emissions. 
H.   Creates monthly environmental Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports, environmental action plans, and energy reduction roadmaps (e.g. energy/CO2, waste, & water).
I.     Conduct energy audits/assessments and life-cycle analyses for utility systems and develop energy balance to visualize utility reduction potential.
J.    Function as a resource to plants in planning and implementing best practices in energy program and waste/water reduction opportunities.
K.   Develop, implement, review, update, and train team members in energy reduction policies and procedures to ensure compliance with TBJ & TBA requirements.
L.    Support plants in achieving and maintaining ISO50001 certification and training in regard to TBJ & TBA energy goals & targets. (ISO50001 experience not necessary but                        preferred).
M.  Comply with all regulations set by the Federal & State EPA/DOT and local government.
N.   Coordinate the work of outside contractors and consultants to support creation of energy reduction projects and process performance testing, as needed.
O.   Assist in engineering new processes and devices to meet or exceed energy (CO2) reduction requirements. 
P.    Conduct training and coaching for management and team members on energy reduction issues pertaining to their specific position and job duties in support of TBJ/TBA energy        goals & targets.
Q.   Develop/complete annual departmental business planning objectives and all assigned special projects, as required.
R.   Assist in the development of Biodiversity and Circular Economy topics through KPI creation and project implementation.
S.   Other EHS activities as necessary.


III.    Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: 
•    Bachelor’s Degree with STEM major is required (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical Engineering) or a combined education + experience to perform the technical roles defined above.

Experience:
•    2-5 years of relevant energy reduction experience is preferred.
•    Experience in manufacturing and/or the automotive industry preferred
•    NEC – National Electrical Code experience preferred.
•    Prefer knowledge of environmental engineering principles, such as ventilation, energy control, and general machine design.  Ideally LEED or CEM certification or experience. 
•    Environmental compliance (air, water, waste) experience or coursework
•    ISO50001 System Implementation and Management experience preferred

Personal/Technical Skills:
•    General manufacturing and industrial equipment knowledge required.
•    General understanding and working knowledge of energy & electrical engineering principles.
•    Strong organization and planning skills.
•    Ability to communicate and work well with all levels of the organization.
•    Ability to compile effective and concise visual reports.
•    Effective presentation and writing skills.
•    Knowledgeable of energy engineering and energy reduction strategies.
•    Ability to multitask and facilitate problem solving & resolution.
•    Ability to work in a team environment.
•    Effective time management skills and responsivity to shifting priorities.
•    Ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Language Skills:
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
•    Spanish, Portuguese, or Japanese is beneficial.

Computer/Software:
•    Solid working knowledge and demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
•    Energy modeling software experience beneficial.

IV.    Work Environment/Conditions:

Office:  Open Office Environment, moderate noise level. Hybrid role expectation is to be in office 3 days per week.

Plant:  Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level.  PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas.  Personal attire standards may apply.

Travel:  Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time.  Travel to all manufacturing plants within TB including: U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina. Passport will be required.  

V.    Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear.  The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time and is occasionally required to lift up to 33 pounds.
